A Comparative Study on the Development of Telecommuting in Japan and the United States

随着新冠疫情的全世界大流行,远程办公受到了空前的重视。在20世纪80年代,虽然日本和美国在远程办公上几乎同时起步,但两国发展的结果却存在很大差距,这主要是因为日本和美国远程办公发展的动因、采取的措施等存在差别。发展的差距也决定了日本和美国远程办公发展的效果存在程度上的差别,同时,在面临的共性问题上日本表现得更加明显。对具有代表性的美国和日本远程办公发展进行深入对比分析,会对我国进一步推进远程办公带来有益的启示。

Telecommuting has received unprecedented attention, along with the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 1980 s, although Japan and the United States started telecommuting almost at the same time, there is a big gap in the results of the development. From the comparison, it can be seen that this is mainly due to the differences in the motivations and measures adopted for the development of telecommuting in Japan and the United States. The gap in development also determines the difference in the extent of the development of telecommuting between Japan and the United States, and at the same time, Japan is more obvious in the common problems it faces. An in-depth comparative analysis of the representative development of telecommuting in the United States and Japan will surely bring beneficial enlightenment to the further promotion of telecommuting for China.
