The intervertebral disc is composed of the upper and lower cartilage endplates, the peripheral fibrous annulus and the central nucleus pulposus, which connects the two adjacent vertebral bodies of the spine and plays a role in carrying, transmitting and distributing loads in daily activities. The stress load on the intervertebral disc is an important reason for its degeneration, and the resulting degenerative disc disease, which seriously affects the quality of life. In recent years, studies have shown that stress regulates the growth and metabolism of intervertebral disc cells through a variety of ways. In-depth study of its regulatory effects will help to better understand the process of intervertebral disc degeneration and lay the foundation for biological treatment.
