In the social development,topographic survey is the basic means to understand the topography of the survey area,and plays an irreplaceable role in engineering construction.This paper analyzes the significance and development prospect of surveying and mapping automation technology to topographic survey,and discusses the surveying and mapping automation technologies such as GPS,RS,GIS,etc.,in order to provide reference suggestions for construction personnel,effectively control the work flow of survey,dynamically monitor survey information,lay a solid foundation for the intelligent development of surveying and mapping technology,and promote the development of urbanization.
