Tracking the growing role of Chinese leasing companies

摘要 关键提示过去十年,中国船舶租赁业务发展迅速,目前市场渗透率已达7.3%。过去十年,中国船舶租赁业务快速发展,以总吨计存量船队占比全球船队规模的6.9%,未交付船舶占全球手持订单的12.3%,目前市场渗透率达7.3%。资产规模除海工外,当前全球航运船队和手持订单价值估算为11,544亿美元。据统计,中国国内有28家从事国际船舶融资租赁业务的公司,有50家从事国内业务,拥有船队资产价值总计796亿美元,合计2,291艘船、1.1亿总吨;资产总量仅次于第三大船东国日本(合计船队规模1,080亿美元、1.8亿总吨)。以资产价值计,前十大租赁公司的市场份额占比高达84%。 Chinese leasing companies today play an important part in the shipping industry, in their role as finance suppliers and vessel investors through financial and operating leases. Here we review how these companies have built up their portfolio over the last decade, evolving from domestic-oriented to international players, now leasing an estimated 7% of global fleet tonnage and 12% of the orderbook. Overall, growth over the last decade has meant that by end 2020, an estimated 2,291 ships of 113.7 m GT and a current value of $79.6 bn were being leased from Chinese lessors. To maintain their current share of the fleet, Chinese leasing companies will need to continue to expand their activity. Although there are only two companies with a portfolio over $10 bn, there are now 78 Chinese ship lessors in total, and potential for new entrants. Leasing companies are now generally expected to have to consider further innovation, differentiation and diversification to drive the next phase of growth.
