外交部发言人表态中的概念隐喻翻译研究——以中美贸易摩擦为例

A Study on Conceptual Metaphor Translation in the Statement ofChina Foreign Ministry Spokespersons ——A Case Study on China-US Trade Friction

该研究从认知语言学视角出发,结合外交部发言人就中美贸易摩擦相关表态中的隐喻及其翻译,总结归纳外交话语翻译中使用的五种隐喻翻译策略。研究发现,外交翻译倾向于在译文中保留隐喻或喻义,很少会舍弃隐喻不译。此外,由于外交翻译具有高度的政治敏感性,是否保留隐喻取决于言者的交际期望。

From the perspective of cognitive linguistics,this paper,by way of the metaphors and its translation used by Foreign Ministry Spokespersons on China-US trade friction,summarizes five metaphors translation strategies in diplomatic discourse.The study found that diplomatic translation prefers to reserve metaphor or its meaning at least,and rarely abandons metaphors.In addition,because of diplomatic translation’s strong nature of politics and policy sensitivity,whether to retain metaphors in translation is up to speakers’communicative expectation.
