晚明画家宋旭是吴门画派和松江画派之间的关键人物,他释道人物、山水皆擅,尤其善于巨幅大幛的山水画创作,本文主要以宋旭的山水为研究主体。宋旭虽然出身寒门,是一位职业画家,但是他有着不俗的文人素养,而且于佛道之间颇有领悟,宋旭的交游可以串联起嘉兴和松江之间广泛的文人交往。作为一名云游的布衣画家,宋旭又为我们展示了晚明时期丰富的社会信息,宋旭的山水为我们提供了近距离观察湖州、嘉兴、松江等地风土人情的机会。

Song Xu, an artist in the late Ming dynasty, was a key figure that connected the Wumen and Songjiang schools of painting. He was good at landscape and Buddhist and Daoist figures. He especially excelled at executing large scale landscape paintings, which is the subject of study in the current paper. Born into a humble family and a painter by trade, Song was accomplished in literary knowledge and had deep understanding of Buddhism and Daoism. His social connections reflect the literati’s interaction in Jiaxing and Songjiang. As an artist who had no position in the government and who travelled a lot, Song provided valuable details about the late Ming society, and his landscape paintings gives us the opportunity to look closely at the daily life and customs in Huzhou, Jiaxing and Songjiang.
