孙诒让致谭献手札四通考释

Four Letters from Sun Yirang to Tan Xian

晚清著名古文字学家、金石学家孙诒让一生锐意著述且交往广泛,与张之洞、黄绍箕、章太炎等名流均有书信往来,其生平信札、序跋、杂著等已结集为《孙诒让遗文辑存》出版发行。《复堂师友手札菁华》收有孙诒让致谭献手札十四通,均未收入《孙诒让遗文辑存》,故有重要的文献价值和史料价值。因篇幅所限,笔者先将孙诒让作于离皖之后的四通手札整理并考释。此四通手札不但可以一窥孙诒让信稿书迹、文体之原始风貌,还可以揭示孙、谭二人在光绪二年(1876年)至光绪十四年(1888年)期间的书籍往还、金石交流、学术探讨等交游往事,札文内容也多涉及他们同年好友袁昶、张预等人生活情状,对了解二位学人的生平、学术趋向以及晚清中下层士人群体的生存状况有重要的文献价值。

Sun Yirang, a prolific palaeographer and epigraphist in the late Qing dynasty, had written numerous letters to famous scholars or officials like Zhang Zhidong, Huang Shaoji and Zhang Taiyan. His letters, prefaces, postscripts and other miscellaneous writings have been published as an anthology in Posthumous Writings of Sun Yirang [孙诒让遗文辑存]. However, the fourteen letters written by him to Tan Xian, which are of great literary and historical value, are not included in this book but instead have been included in Selected Letters in the Tan Xian Collection [复堂师友手札菁华]. The current author expounds on four of the fourteen letters that were written after Sun left Anhui. These letters not only offer a glimpse of Sun’s original handwriting and literary style, but also reveal book exchanges and academic communication on epigraphy and other matters between Sun and Tan from 1876 to 1888. In addition, details mentioned in those letters about friends like Yuan Chang and Zhang Yu are valuable resources for studying the life and academic approaches of Yuan and Zhang and the circumstances of late Qing scholar-officials of the middle to lower class.
