The achievements of Yunnan ethnic work are not gained in one day,but based on a profound historical accumulation.Wang Desan's thoughts and practice in the work is undoubtedly the most important.He pursued progress in his early years,realized a change in his thoughts,accepted Marxism-Leninism and made a solid theoretical foundation.After he returned to Yunnan to lead the Yunnan Revolution,he keenly recognized the importance of ethnic minorities in the revolution,and started explorations in ethnic theories and work.In the Sixth National Congress of the CPC,he proposed to attach importance to ethnic minorities which was a"fundamental issue"at the time.The Outline on Ethnic Issues he wrote was the first one of the type in the party history.Yijing compiled by him also has a far-reaching influence and outstanding contributions.Wang Desan's thoughts and practice of ethnic work has opened up a correct path for the solution of ethnic problems in Yunnan.It is an important historical accumulation of ethnic work in Yunnan,and it is still worthy of in-depth study and research today.
