In this study, oral anesthesia was administered to 10 healthy adult coffee minks using a combination of α-chloroaldose and dexmedetomidine. In order to evaluate the anesthesia period after the combined use of the two drugs, the interference in the main physiological function of the body and the four elements of anesthesia, and to comprehensively evaluate the oral anesthesia effect, the routine physiological indexes, anesthesia time, anesthesia effect and biological reflex of minks were monitored continuously in the process of anesthesia. The results showed that the body temperature of the minks decreased continuously, by 1.4 ℃, after oral anesthesia until the end of monitoring(60 min after oral anesthesia). The saturation of pulse oximetry, respiratory rate and heart rate of the animals all showed a trend of decreasing first and then increasing in the whole anesthesia process, and their respiratory rate and heart rate decreased most obviously 50 min after the oral administration. The anesthesia period was characterized by stable induction, appropriate maintenance time and rapid recovery. The effects of sedation, analgesia and muscle relaxation were definite and balanced, providing a good duration of action of about 30 min. Corneal, eyelid and anal biological reflexes were consistently present during anesthesia, which were moderately inhibited at 20-50 min after the oral administration, showing a more appropriate depth of anesthesia.
