Social media,as a set of Internet applications with both technical and social functions, has changed the way organizations and individuals communicate, share and collaborate. On the basis of communication visibility theory and reciprocity theory, this study focuses on the influence of work-oriented and social-oriented social media use on employee cooperative behavior, and investigates the mediating mechanisms and moderating effects of this influencing process.Using MPLUS and SPSS hierarchical regression analysis,we empirically examined the data of 212 surveys from the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta regions, and the results showed that:①work-oriented and social-oriented social media use has a significant positive effect on employee cooperative behavior;②knowledge acquisition plays an intermediary role between social media use and employee cooperative behavior;③knowledge-based psychological ownership negatively moderates the relationship between knowledge acquisition and employee cooperative behavior.Collectively, the study enriches the relevant literature on social media and expands the research on the consequences of social media, which has certain theoretical significance and has important practical implications for organizations and individuals to use social media rationally and strengthen cooperative behavior.
