《双江一瞥》是彭桂萼的第一部学术著作,不仅“开双江县史志作品之先河”,而且体现了彭桂萼“呈露出此地的自然、社会、民族等实况,以作实施政教的参考”的学术初心,还表现在其善于运用历史学和人类学相结合的综合研究方法来阐释边疆民族问题,是对边疆历史和现实问题的真情关照,是边疆学人心系国家安危、民族命运的一幅缩影,也为新时代后辈学者的边疆史地研究提供了有益的参照和借鉴。

A Glimpse of Shuangjiang County is Peng Guie’s first academic work.It not only“opens the historical annals of Shuangjiang county”,but also embodies Peng Guie’s original academic aspiration of“presenting the realities of nature,society,and ethnic groups in this place for the implementation of politics and education.”In addition,he is good at using the comprehensive research method of combining history and anthropology to explain the ethnic issues in the border area,which is a sincere care for the history and practical problems in the border area,and a miniature of the border scholars’concern for the national security and the destiny of the nation.It also provides a useful reference for the future generation of scholars in the study of frontier history and geography in the new era.
