New Countryside in the Making China Today,published in'April 2021 With a mere seven percent of the world's arable land,China feeds nearly one-fifth of the world's population.China in 2020 fundamentally eliminated absolute poverty.Nevertheless,there is still a big gap between China's cities and rural areas,especially in terms of culture,infrastructure and public services.As China enters its new stage of development,during the 14th Five-Year Plan period(2021-2025),the priority of work pertaining to agriculture,rural areas and rural residents is undergoing a historic shift,from pooling resources to supporting poverty alleviation to comprehensively advancing rural revitalization.
