本文主要介绍和分析袁同礼先生和母校哥伦比亚大学发生的两件重要史事:1934年袁先生访问母校哥大,哥大向袁先生授&大学卓越勋章"(University Medal for Excellence);1945年,袁先生访问哥大,哥大为袁先生举行隆重的欢迎宴会。本文以重要的档案史料来重现和探讨袁先生和母校哥大之间深厚的感情和亲密的关系。

This article mainly introduces and examines two important events happened between T.L.Yuan and his alma mater Columbia:Yuan visited Columbia and Columbia awarded him“University Medal for Excellence”,in 1934;Yuan visited Columbia and Columbia entertained him with a university-level dinner in 1945.Using archival materials,I wish to document and explore affection and affinity between the U.S.-exluwcated returned students like Yuan and high education institutions like Columbia in the larger historical contcxts of closer relations between U.S.and China in the first half of the 20th century.
