On Differentiation and Analysis of the Concept of Nation,Nationalism and Oriental Nationalism

民族的内涵在学界众说纷纭,越来越趋向其政治属性,但中文语境的民族作为一个历史范畴,具有明显的文化主义倾向。民族主义概念的内涵外延多义复杂、富有争议,每种定义各有侧重,民族主义作为民族生存和发展的观念体系具有强大的动员能力。东方民族主义是与西方民族主义相对应的概念,它形成于东方对源于西方的现代化全球扩散的回应,具有被动应对性、民族文化认同性和复杂性特征。

There are different opinions on the connotation of nationality in the academic circle,and it tendsto be more and more political.However,as a historical category,nationality in Chinese context has an obvious ten-dency of culturalism.The connotation and extension of the concept of nationalism are complicated and controver-sial,and each definition has its own emphasis.As a conceptual system of national survival and development,na-tionalism has a powerful mobilization ability.Oriental nationalism is a concept corresponding to western national-ism.It is formed in the East’s response to the global spread of modernization originated in the West.It has the char-acteristics of passive response,national cultural identity and complexity.
