佐西莫斯是5世纪中后期拜占廷帝国历史学家。评析罗马帝国衰落的《罗马新史》是其留存后世的唯一一部著作。书中完整地呈现了佐西莫斯的宗教思想。强烈的反基督教倾向是其宗教思想上最鲜明的特征。佐西莫斯除了对基督教直接抨击之外,还借助传统信仰中的神谕对其冷嘲热讽,表示不屑。通过对相关历史文献的梳理分析,应当肯定佐西莫斯宗教思想中反基督教倾向的形成除了受其家庭出身影响之外,更深层的原因是罗马帝国政治形势的演变。
