“真实无妄”与“开启民智”——由《申报》“杨乃武案”看中国近代报刊的媒介素养

“Seeking for Truth”and“Opening up the Wisdom of People”--An Observation of the Media Literacy of Modern Chinese Newspapers from the Perspective of“Yang Naiwu Case”which Reported by Shun Pao

《申报》是近代中国创设较早,历时最久的报刊。其创刊不久,即对“杨乃武案”进行了长达三年多的追踪报道。在对“杨乃武案”的报道过程中,《申报》始终秉持“真实无妄”“靡不毕载”的报道原则,从而使其在刊载内容上较之传统官报更为广泛。除了秉持“有闻必录”的报道与刊载,《申报》还对于“杨乃武案”审理过程中所暴露出的司法弊端与官场陋习给予揭露与批判,彰显了其作为社会舆论的立场,充分发挥了近代报刊媒介“开启民智”的功能,标志着中国近代报刊媒介素养的逐渐形成。

Shun Pao is the longest lasting and most influential newspaper in modern China.Not long after its publication,it followed up the case of Yang Naiwu for more than three years.In the process of reporting this case,Shun Pao always adheres to the reporting principles of“truthfulness”and“endless coverage”,which makes it different from the traditional official newspapers.In addition,Shun Pao revealed and criticized the judicial malpractices and officialdom bad habits exposed in the trial process of“Yang Naiwu case”,which not only showed its position as a public opinion,but also gave full play to the function of“opening up the wisdom of the people”of modern newspapers and periodicals,marking the rise of modern Chinese newspapers and periodicals.
