An Exploration into Wang Zhiyi’s Piracy Management during Jiaqing Period of Qing Dynasty

嘉庆时期福建海盗势力大涨,对福建沿海地区造成恶劣的社会影响。汪志伊于嘉庆年间任福建巡抚、闽浙总督等地方要职,在清源化俗的思想指导下实施一系列的海盗治理方案,如肃清海盗、严查验、开海禁、注重人才、慎选官吏等,对稳定福建沿海社会秩序起重要作用。

During Jiaqing period of Qing dynasty,the pirate force in Fujian province is increasing and leading to adverse social impact on Fujian coastal areas.Wang Zhiyi,as the governor of Fujian from second to sixth year of Jiaqing,governor of Fujian and Zhejiang from fifteenth to twenty-second year of Jiaqing,taken a series of anti-piracy operation with the strategy of“Cleaning up Radically and Changing Vulgarity”--lifting the sea ban investigating thoroughly,enhancing the quality of the talents in navy,eliminating pirates.Thus his strategy of“Cleaning up Radically and Changing Vulgarity”is value for Fujian’s stablize.
