Monkey Bridge and The Lotus and Storm,two novels by Vietnamese American novelist Lan Cao,both center on the Vietnam war to reveal the cruelty of the war and the sufferings of the refugees.Written during the period of US-Vietnam economic relations reconstruction of the 1990s and the Iraq War in the 21^(st),century,these two novels show Lan Cao’s unique view of reconciliation-As a refugee,she hopes that Vietnamese refugees get rid of the shadow of war and reconcile with the traumatic past;As an American,she calls on America to reconcile with the present society and stop the war for world peace.As a Vietnamese American,she focuses on reconciling with her inner self to survive the life in diaspora.It shows Lan Cao’s reflection on war history,reality and inner self from her unique position.
