Area studies refer to the comprehensive research with interdisciplinary characteristics.Due to the demand of American international strategy between the two world wars,American private foundations gradually played a leading role in formulating the institutionalized establishment of area studies based on the cooperation of private foundations,governmental organizations and academic institutions.With the aggravation of Cold War conflicts in Asia,Asian area studies became the focus of the aforementioned American trilateral institution.Asian area studies in America has had the characteristics of institutionalization,broad cooperation and international networking with a deeply-set objective of shaping the national values of Asian countries.
