With the adjustment of national energy structure and the surplus of coal supply capacity,it is necessary to optimize the layout of coal resources exploration and development in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which is one of the most important coal resource base in China.Based on the latest evaluation results of coal resources potential in China, this paper comprehensively discusses coal resources in Inner Mongolia from the aspects of coal seam structure,coal-bearing strata and resource distribution, and analyzes the current situation of coal resources exploration and development.According to the development ideology of innovation, coordination, green, opening and sharing, the guiding ideology and basic principles of coal resources exploration and development is expounded, which include adhere to coordinated development, innovative development and green development;focusing on two large-scale coal bases in East Mongolia mining area and Shendong mining area, comprehensively plan the exploration, development and utilization of coal resources. The target of coal resources exploration and the layout of production and development in Inner Mongolia are put forward. The research results have important guiding significance for Inner Mongolia to formulate coal geological exploration strategy, optimize coal production layout and scientifically plan coal production capacity in the future.
