In Wu Hong’s book Ten Comments on the History of Fine Arts,he analyzes and studies the research methods and related terms and institutions of the history of fine arts.In Chapter 2“image translation and interpretation of fine arts”,Wu Hong mentions the advantages and disadvantages of image translation on the research and teaching of the history of fine arts.In Chapter 4“return of real objects,the historical materiality of fine arts”,Wu Hong emphasizes the significance of real objects on the research of the history of fine arts.This paper summarizes Wu Hong’s views on image translation,explores the relationship between image translation and object in theoretical research,and tries to apply it to the research and teaching of costume history.
