Noriko Ibaragi is a Japanese postwar representative poet whose poetry contains obvious examples of individual consciousness. The independence, autonomy and responsibility in her works compose a milestone and highlight of postwar Japanese female thought.Comprehensively analyzing the great changes of Japan after WWII and Noriko Ibaragi’s wartime experience, based on the theory of existentialism, historical facts and poetic text evidence and interpretation of her famous poem(To Satre),this paper aims to figure out how the poet discovered"the other"from her self-reflection and the forming, developing process of individual consciousness through her independent fight with"the other".The paper also tries to provide an angle for modern people’s life philosophy.
