The Party Congratulated Xu Teli on His 60th Birthday:Based on A Report in the New China News

1937年1月,三大主力红军会师不久、西安事变刚刚解决、抗日民族统一战线尚未形成,在日本不断侵略、中华民族面临亡国灭种的危险时刻,党中央和毛泽东决定为徐特立祝贺60大寿。苏区、白区敬仰徐特立的人们,通过祝词、题词、贺电、贺信等方式开展了狂热的祝寿活动。对此,徐特立先后撰写了《自传》《我的答词》等文章进行回应,回顾前半生参加革命工作的历程,表明继续跟随共产党干革命的决心。这次祝寿是纯洁的、廉洁的、革命性的、群众性的,展现出中国共产党高昂的革命乐观主义精神以及由此凝聚起的同仇敌烷的磅礴力量。

In January 1937,while the three main Red Army had joined forces and the Xi'an Incident had just been resolved,the anti-Japanese national united front had not yet formed.Facing Japan's continuous aggression,the Chinese nation was m the danger of national demise,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Mao Zedong decided to congratulate Xu Teli on his 60th birthday.In the Communist Party-controlled area and Kuomingtang-controlled area,people who admired Xu Teli respectively had carried out an enthusiastic birthday celebration by means of congratulatory messages,inscriptions,telegrams and letters.In response to this,Xu Teli had written Autobiography,My Acknowledgment and other articles to review the course of revolutionary work in the first half of his life,showing his detennination to continue to follow the Communist Party.This birthday celebration was pure,honest and revolutionary with mass participation,showing the high revolutionary optimism spirit of the Chinese Communist Party and thus gathering great strength against our common enemy.
