Lifelong Relationship Between A Teacher and His Student: Xu Teli and Chen Kangbai

陈康白是红色科学家、优秀知识分子的代表,徐特立是陈康白最重要的启蒙者和领路人,是对他影响和帮助最大的革命导师。陈康白少时入读长沙县立师范,得到徐特立的亲切教诲;抗日战争全面爆发后,陈康白放弃在德国的科学事业,回国并在徐特立的指引下赴延安参加革命工作;徐特立任延安自然科学院院长时,陈康白任副院长,两人共同为延安自然科学院的创建和发展付出了大量心血;建国后,两人感情深厚,互有往来。在长达50多年的交往中,两人结下了真挚动人的师生情谊,留下一段人间佳话。

Chen Kangbai was the representative of red scientists and outstanding intellectuals,while Xu Teli was his most important enlightener,guider as well as the revolutionary mentor with the greatest influence to him.When he was young,Chen Kangbai was enrolled in Changsha County Nonnal School,receiving Xu Teli's patient education.After the full-scale outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan,Chen Kangbai gave up his scientific programs in Germany.Under the guidance of Xu Teli,he returned to Yan'an to participate in revolutionary work.Back then,Xu Teli was president ofYan?an Academy ofNatural Science while Chen Kangbai served as vice president.The two made a lot of painstaking efforts for the establishment and development of the academy.After the founding of the people's Republic of China,obtaining deep feelings,the two maintained communication with each other During the more than 50 years of contact,the two have forged a sincere and touching relationship between teachers and students,leaving behind a period of tales in the world.
