摘要
在克拉克·克尔(1911—2003年)诞辰110周年之际,有必要探究"multiversity"的翻译与语义,回顾研究型大学的演变过程,辨析其多元办学目标、职能定位与组织结构等特征,充分认识多元大学及多元高等教育的管理方式与治理模式。当今,我国高校的平均规模已远超美国,应避免过于注重多元大学的规模表象,积极发展新型研究型大学、应用型本科高校,建设高质量教育体系。
In 110th anniversary of Clark Kerr’s birth(1911-2003), it is necessary to explore the translation and semantic meaning of"multiversity", to review the evolution process of research university, and to identify the characteristics of plural objects, functions, and structure, as well as administration and governance of multiversity and diversified higher education. Currently, the average scale of China’s university is much larger than that of America, it should avoid focusing on the presentation of multiversity’s scale, develop new type of research university and applied undergraduate college, so as to contribute to the construction of high-quality education system.
