On Cultural Self-Confidence and the New Era of Globalization

文化自信是中国走向世界的通行证,它既反对排外的文化民族主义,也反对同质化的全球主义。它不仅是"你中有我,我中有你"的相互包含,而且也是"你非我,我非你,但我们手拉手,在一起"的彼此独立而依存的关系,前者是意识或话语的"主体间性",后者是兼有话语和实存的"个体间性"。文化自信之所以演变为当今中国社会的一个关键词,是因为中国已经是世界的、全球的,反之亦然。当今任何一个国家都无法置身于全球化之外,任何一种文化都在相互链接从而协商之中。新冠肺炎疫情全球大流行导致"封户、封村、封城",乃至"封国",演绎的不是 "逆全球化",而是以极端的形式警示人类,全球化已经迈入一个新阶段,即"人类命运共同体"时代。一旦有谁完整把握了"文化自信"的含义,谁便走进了"人类文化共同体"的新时代,至少于观念上如此。

Cultural self-confidence is China's passport to the world,which opposes both xenophobic cultural nationalism and homogenized globalism.It means not only the mutual inclusion of"having each other"but also an independent yet supportive relationship where"people with diverse backgrounds work together".The former is the"inter-subjectivity"of consciousness or discourse,and the latter is the'"inter-individuality"of both discourse and existence.The reason why cultural self-confidence has evolved into a keyword in today’s Chinese society is that China is already of world-wide and global influence,and vice versa.Nowadays,no country can distance globalization,and all cultures are interconnected and thus consult with each other.The Covid-19 pandemic caused the lockdown of families,villages,cities and even states.It is not a"reverse globalization".It is a warning to mankind in an extreme way:globalization has entered a new stage,namely,the age of"human community with a shared future".If there is anyone who can grasp the meaning of"cultural self-confidence",he or she will enter a new era of"human cultural community",at least conceptually.
