Can Integrated Information Theory Solve the Problem of Consciousness?—From the Perspective of Model Transformation

物质的大脑是如何产生意识的,一直是心灵哲学的意识难题。朱利奥·托诺尼(Giulio Tononi)提出的整合信息理论,将脑神经科学实证研究和意识的现象学研究结合在一起,运用数学量化的方法,试图对意识是如何产生于物质大脑之问题给予一个完整的解释。整合信息理论经过三个版本的演化,从模型的角度来看,完成了从句法学模型向语义学模型的转向,认为意识的本质就是整合信息。整合信息理论为解决意识难题提供了一种新的思路。

How the material brain produces consciousness has always been a difficult problem of consciousness in philosophy of mind.The integrated information theory proposed by Giulio Tononi combines the empirical research of brain neuroscience with the phenomenological study of consciousness,attempting to explain completely how consciousness is generated in the material brain by means of mathematical quantification.After three versions of evolution,the integrated information theory,from the perspective of model,has completed the transformation from the syntactic model to the semantic model,believing that the essence of consciousness is integrated information.Hence,integrated information theory provides a new idea to solve the problem of consciousness.
