Supplementary Interpretations of Inscriptions on the Stele of Zhang Yu

本文依据新著录的张禹碑拓片图版,重新分析了"家""年""升""大""[䇲]"等字形,指出旧释"众有黍储""入迁农官""荣拜太傅"应分别改释为"家有年储""入升大官""䇲拜太傅";对误释误解的"临朔交刺"和"糸■不干/丝缎不干"小句,在字形分析的基础上联系语境和相关史料,改释为"临埶交利"和"糸发不干",认为"临埶(势)交利,圣人所叹,而公处之,糸发不干",表达的是对张禹身处势利交错的官场之中,仍保持着廉洁操守的赞颂之意。

This paper reexamines the Stele of Zhang Yu based on a new rubbing.It points out that several graphs were wrongly transcribed.The paper argues that the three graphs transcribed by the editors as zhong众,shu黍,and qian迁,should be identified as jia家,nian年,and sheng升respectively.According to the analysis of the graphs shi埶and fa发,and taking the context and relevant historical materials into account,the paper reinterprets the meanings of the clauses linshi jiaoli临埶交利and sifa bugan糸发不干,and finds that they indicate admiration for Zhang Yu's honesty and integrity in the complicated bureaucracy.
