Butler is a famous American librarian and has been engaged in library education for more than 20 years.Based on Butler s articles and teaching practices,this article summarizes his ideas on library education of which with focuses on research as the core of education,emphasis on liberal and comprehensive education as well as the relevance of library education with the library profession,and the development of students personalities.
