通识教育在促进人的全面发展,增强学习者对事物认识的深度和广度,让学习者了解世界及其所处的时代,促进文化交融合作,形成学习者正确的价值观,应对飞速发展的社会变化和未来生活的挑战等方面,发挥着巨大而不可替代的作用.在分析借鉴国内外各高等学校通识教育的做法与经验的基础上,特别探讨了科技与工程类通识教育课程在当今以高科技为主要支撑的时代的重要作用,并在高等职业院校进行了有益的探索与实践.

General education gives depth and width to the learners’ vision and helps them better understand the world and the era. It promotes the cultural exchange and cooperation, enabling learners to form the correct values, cope with the rapid developing society and face the challenges of their future life. Therefore, it plays a huge and irreplaceable role in promoting the all-round development of human beings. Based on the analysis of the practice and experience of general education in colleges and universities at home and abroad, this paper discusses the important role of general education courses in technology and engineering in the era of high technology, and carries out the beneficial exploration and practice in higher vocational colleges.
