A Textual Research on Sun Yuwen’s Letters to Weng Tonghe

故宫博物院藏有孙毓汶致翁同龢信札9通,此前从未对外发布。从时间上看,这9通信札主要作于甲午战争期间;从内容上看,信札主要涉及战事信息及应对策略通报、举荐门生差事、个人健康状况说明等;从文献价值上看,信札对研究甲午战争中和战两派的决策与势力消长及对澄清孙、翁关系不睦等,都有一定的意义。

The Palace Museum has a collection of 9 letters written by Sun Yuwen to Weng Tonghe,which have never been published publicly.These letters were mainly written during the Sino-Japanese war of 1894-1895.They mainly include notifying war information and coping decisions,recommending jobs for his students,and explaining personal health status,etc.These letters are valuable to study the growth and decline of the power of those who advocated peace and war during the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895,and to correct the rumors that the personal relationship between Sun and Weng was not harmonious.
