In the new century,the United States of America carries out a series of innovation and exploration in the field of foreign language education,which is mainly embodied in the following aspects:Laws and policies are implemented to propel the development of foreign language education;Standards and goals of foreign language education are made quite explicit;Financial assistance is taken as a way to fulfill those standards and goals;Critical languages are put in the top priority for the sake of national security.American practice of foreign language education has both its advantages and disadvantages,which can provide some implications for and shed new light on China’s foreign language education.
