On the Internal Logic of Two Historical Tasks and“Four Choices”

争取民族独立和人民解放与实现国家富强和人民幸福是中国近代以来的两大历史任务。前者为后者创造前提和开辟道路,后者是对前者的进一步延伸和提升,二者共同构成了近代以来中国人民为挽救民族危亡和实现民族复兴而奋斗的主要内容。为完成两大历史任务,中国人民选择了马克思主义、中国共产党、社会主义道路和改革开放。“四个选择”是与时俱进的动态过程和逻辑严密的有机整体。两大历史任务是中国人民作出“四个选择”的根本出发点和落脚点,“四个选择”是中国人民为完成两大历史任务所作出的正确选择,二者共同演绎了近代以来中华民族苦难辉煌的历史征程,并充分展现了新时代中华民族伟大复兴的光明前景。

The two historical tasks of modern China are to strive for national independence and people’s liberation,and to realize the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people.The former creates the premise and paves the way for the latter,and the latter is the further extension and promotion of the former,which together constitute the main contents of the struggle of the Chinese people to save the national peril and realize the national rejuvenation since the modern times.In order to accomplish the two historical tasks,the Chinese people have chosen Marxism,the Communist Party of China,the socialist road,and the reform and opening up policy.“Four Choices”is a dynamic process advancing with the times and an organic whole with strict logic.The two great historical tasks are the fundamental starting point and foothold for the Chinese people to make the“Four Choices”,and the“Four Choices”are the correct choices made by the Chinese people to accomplish the two historical tasks,which together jointly interpret the distressful and the glorious historical journey of the Chinese nation since modern times,and fully display bright prospects for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the new era.
