Amino acids is an important biomarker in the process of cognitive impairment.People with diabetes have poorer cognitive ability and more abnormal brain imaging than those without diabetes. At present, there are two major types of amino acids related to cognitive impairment:inhibitory amino acids(IAAs)and excitatory amino acids(EAAs).EAAs include glutamic acid(Glu)and aspartic acid(Asp),while IAAS includes gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA)and glycine(GLY).This article will focus on these two types of amino acids and diabetic cognitive impairment.
