In April 1953, a Shaoxing opera troupe of the cultural troupe of the Ministry of Culture of the General Political Department went to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea with the reform achievements of the two operas "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Ying tai" and "The West Chamber", and conducted an 8-month performance to express solicitude for the Chinese People’s Volunteers Army and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea soldiers and civilians. On the Korean battlefield, the Shaoxing opera troupe "made acquaintance" with a kind of Korean folk opera "The Story of Chunhyang". With the help of the Workers’ Party of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and other parties, it was adapted into Shaoxing opera and introduced into China, which opened the first chapter of cultural exchanges between China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. This kind of external propaganda method of using the theme of love stories to express the revolutionary values and "moving people with affection" has had a certain impact on China’s cultural diplomacy.
