A Study of the Women of the Jinxi Wu Family in the Northern Song Dynasty

北宋金溪吴氏家族因与临川王氏家族世代联姻而显名。作为以科第延续盛名的书香世家,金溪吴氏家族出过曾巩母亲、王安石母亲、王安石妻子等著名女性,其几代女性的整体素质之高在有宋一代也是较为少见的。宋代崇尚科举的士风推动了进士家族的兴旺,文化家族联姻的相互影响、社会对女性学习的态度以及传记资料本身的特性等都是研究宋代女性素质的影响因素。

In the Northern Song Dynasty,the Jinxi Wu Famliy became famous due to their marriage with the Linchuan Wang Family.As a scholarly family that continued in Fuzhou,the Jinxi Wu Family had famous women such as the mother of Zeng Gong,and the mother and wife of Wang Anshi.The general high-level cultivation of several generations of the women in the family was rare throughout the Song Dynasties.The Song Dynasties advocated imperial civil examination,which led to the prosperity of the imperial examination families.This and all the other elements such as the mutual influence of cultural family marriages,the social attitudes to women’s scholarship,and the characteristics of biographical materials constitute the influencing factors on the women’s quality during the Song Dynasties.
