The abstract expression of the artisan is an important exploration direction of Japanese architectural creation. As the predecessor of the Japanese style residence, two types of architecture, the Sukiya and the tea house, interpret the faint aesthetics of the gloom. In this paper we analyze the understanding of three Japanese contemporary architects, Isoya Yoshida, Kunio Maekawa, and Sutemi Horiguchi, on the understanding of the linear elements in tea house and Sukiya space. The following concepts were proposed: when linear elements are used as maintenance components, their concealment can make the space clear. When it is used as a structural elements, its appearance can lead to paralysis of space. At the time of the disappearance, the space presents a morphological form.
