摘要
白先勇的《孽子》《台北人》呈现出与英美哥特小说的若干共性。《孽子》中有象征牢笼与深渊的恐怖空间,它们压制了生命热情与人物的精神意志,但该小说的整体恐怖程度不及哥特小说;《孽子》《台北人》部分篇目与哥特小说都表现出怪诞,前者创造出怪诞的人物、异境,后者的怪诞与恐怖联系更甚,也没有明晰怪诞产生的原因。在哥特小说中,杀人、强奸事件的发生往往由极端恶毒的人物造成,但白先勇作品中的罪犯却因人生执念或事先受到伤害才实施犯罪,呈现了过度的生命意识。
Crystal Boys and Taipei People of Bai Xianyong show some similarities with Anglo-American Gothic novels.There is a space of horror symbolizing the cage and the abyss in Crystal Boys,which suppresses the passion of life and the spiritual will of the characters,but the overall horror of the novel is not as good as that of Gothic novels.The former creates grotesque characters and exotic places,while the latter is more grotesque and terror-related,and there is no clear cause of the grotesque.In Gothic novels,murders and rapes are often committed by extremely vicious characters,but the criminals in Bai Xianyong's works commit crimes because of their obsession with life or trauma of previous hurts,showing excessive life consciousness.
