西医术语汉译及其对中医术语翻译的启示

Chinese Translation of Western Medical Terms and Its Impact on Translation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Terms

自20世纪"针灸热"在全球范围内掀起开始,中医翻译事业迎来蓬勃发展的新阶段。经过数十年的积累,在术语标准化、译著出版、学术研究等领域取得一定的成就。如今我国已将中医作为传统文化的优秀代表向全世界推广,中医翻译也迎来难得的机遇与挑战。简要回顾西医东传时医学术语的汉译从艰难开创到群英献智,再到标准统一的成功历程,并分析当时所用各种翻译策略,探讨其对现代中医术语翻译的影响,以期能为中医的海外传播带来新的方法与思路。

Since acupuncture in last century started to boom around the world,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)translation has ushered in a new stage of vigorous development.After decades of efforts,certain accomplishments have been achieved in the fields of terminology standardization,publication of translated works,and academic researches.Nowadays,China has promoted TCM as a representative of excellent traditional culture to the world,providing TCM translation with new opportunities and challenges.This paper briefly reviews the successful process of Chinese translation of western medical terms,from the painful creation to resourceful contributions by prestigious scholars,and to the initial standardization of translation.In addition,this paper analyzes and discusses various translation strategies employed at that time to explore their impact on the translation of TCM terms in modern times,hoping to bring new methods and ideas to the future study of overseas spread of Chinese medicine.
