概念隐喻理论下新年贺词英译方法研究

A Study on the English Translation Method of New Year’s Greetings under Conceptual Metaphor Theory

新年贺词兼具传达祝福、国家形象塑造等作用,其中含有大量的概念隐喻表达。选取2017-2021年习近平主席《新年贺词》中文及官方英译文为语料,从多个理论视角切入,以莱考夫和约翰逊提出的概念隐喻理论着手,识别统计其中的概念隐喻;结合《新年贺词》官方译文中概念隐喻的处理方法,进一步总结出直译法、换译法、省译法等三种《新年贺词》中概念隐喻翻译方法,并举例加以阐述,进而提出在进行新年贺词概念隐喻翻译时应考虑文化主体性和文本功效实现程度两个因素,以避免产生文化信息缺失和省译失当的问题。

New Year’s greetings,which serve to convey blessings and shape the country’s image,con⁃tain many conceptual metaphorical expressions.This study selects the Chinese and official English translations of President Xi Jinping’s New Year’s greetings from 2017-2021 as the corpus,starts from several theoretical perspectives,identifies and counts the conceptual metaphors based on the conceptu⁃al metaphors proposed by Lakoff and Johnson.After analyzing the translation method of conceptual met⁃aphors in the official version of the New Year’s greetings,this paper summarizes three translation meth⁃ods of conceptual metaphors in the New Year’s greetings,namely the direct translation method,the transliteration method and the omitted translation method.The translation methods of conceptual meta⁃phors in the New Year’s greetings are summarized and illustrated with examples,and the translation of conceptual metaphors in the New Year’s greetings should take into account two factors,namely,cultur⁃al subjectivity and the degree of textual efficacy,In order to avoid loss of cultural information and inap⁃propriate use of omission technique in translation.
