摘要
莫里森在作品中对神话的应用十分普遍,类似地,坎贝尔在理论著述中也重视神话的心理功能,以及神话对现代人贫瘠与苦闷心理的治疗可能。本文运用坎贝尔的单一神话理论分析《所罗门之歌》,认为小说呈现了单一神话的核心模式“启程—启蒙—回归”,体现于主人公奶娃的南下救赎之旅,强调了神话的精神救赎力量。此外,莫里森不仅以飞翔神话重建非裔美国人的文化传统,也揭示了作为文化传承的神话或民间传说依旧为男性所主导。
Toni Morrison's prcferencc towards the ancient myth parallecls Campbell's theoretical insistence to dig out the psychological functionof mythology to sustain the modern human beings depressed by andtrapped in the nightmare of reality.By applying Campbell's monomyth theory to analyze Song of Solonon,this paper argues thatthe nononyth's central modle of departure-initiation-return is reflectedin the navel through Milkman's heroic journcy of salvation,and withemphasis on the spiritual redlenptive power of myth.Besidcs,Morrison not only adopts the flying imyth of African-Amcrican topromote their culture,but also reveals the pessirnistic fact that themyth or folklore they have inherited is dominated by male.
