The novel Castle tells the story occurred in the 14 th-century Golden Horde of Mongolia and 21 st-century Russia.The novel adopts"two-clued structure"alternately switching from city,countryside and the castle.The embedded narrative of hero’s dream returning the Middle Ages combines past and present,and blend illusion and reality.The novel examines current living situations of Russians,explores the existence value of man and the meaning of life.In the era,when all problems are solved by cash and relationship,the hero Maltsev adheres to principles,initial determination and faithfulness to his career and confront against the changing world.He finally achieves self-realization in the process of defending the castle.
