王廷相的学术思想在哲学上体现为“气本论”。其以“气一理一,气万理万”为核心,分析了元气“常”“化”的形而上内涵。在诗学方面,他将“元气”与“意象”相联系,将哲学“气本论”与诗学相统一,实现了元气意象真情这一模式的转化,其目的是为了达至“与道为一”的境界。这也是他哲学思想和诗学的旨归。

Wang Tingxiang′s academic thought is embodied in philosophy as"Qi based theory",with"one Qi,one reason;ten thousand Qi,ten thousand reason"as the core,so as to further analyze the metaphysics connotation of"constancy"and"change"of Yuan Qi,and in poetics,"Yuan Qi"is associated with"image",and the philosophy of"Qi based theory"are unified with poetics,forming the transformation of Yuan Qi-image-true feelings model,with the purpose of achieving the"one with the Tao"realm,which is also the purpose of his philosophy and poetics.
