也谈英汉时空性特质差异

On the spatiotemporal idiosyncratic differences between English and Chinese

与以往对比研究囿于形式的对比分析不同,近年来学界开始关注从空间和时间认知维度,深层拷问导致英汉语言表征差异的根本原因。然而,对于英汉语究竟存在何种时空性特质差异目前尚未达成共识。鉴于此,本文从以下三个方面论证:1)与汉语一样,英语也是“时空同态”;2)时空同态并不排斥英汉语存在主观性时空特质差异,唯有语际差异探究更能彰显特定语言的个性;3)英汉语际差异表明,相较英语,汉语具有鲜明的强空间性特质。

Differing from the previous contrastive studies confining to the analysis of linguistic forms,scholars have recently started to concern themselves with the examination of the fundamental causes accounting for the linguistic representational differences between English and Chinese from the spatial and temporal cognitive perspectives.However,it is still not clear what spatiotemporal idiosyncratic differences between English and Chinese are.In view of this,this paper intends to make some relevant analysis from the following three aspects:1)like Chinese,time and space are also conflated in English;2)time-space conflation does not exclude the subjective spatiotemporal idiosyncratic differences between English and Chinese,and only the study of the cross-linguistic differences can reveal the true idiosyncratic characteristics of particular language more;3)the cross-linguistic differences between English and Chinese indicates that,compared with English,Chinese has dis-tinct spatiality-prominent characteristics.
