Charles Le Brun, a court painter in Louis XIV, dominated French art creation and theoretical study in the mid-to-late 17 th century. He is not only a successful government official, but also a scholar who is committed to setting up a classical college aesthetic system based on the laws of history and painting. Laying emphasis on the narrativity of painting, Le Brun builds "Age of Empire" through borrowing and imitation of ancient visual culture. His own time period is considered from the view of cultural traditions inherited from the Homer era, which provides political power with the glory of immortal spirit. In addition, he selectively referred to Descartes’ s theory of soul and passion and made modifications to it. Body symbols are borrowed to display subtle emotions between the ruler and the subject and a political narrative with emotional colors is established.
