A Preliminary Study on the Original Meaning of Qu Yuan’s "Self-Drowning in Miluo"

屈原被流放江南,远离权力中心,但高贵的王室血统让他仍享有优于平民的生活待遇。顷襄王是屈原的学生,流放屈原并不是他的本意;郢都城虽然被破,但楚国仍很强大;故此,屈原没有自杀的理由。屈原坚信,在楚国的天空有一片绚丽的净土,他要乘龙驭凤去到这片净土寻找他理想中的"美人",实现他的"美政"理想。出于对龙和凤的崇拜,他选择端午节在凤凰山下的汨罗江投江。

Qu Yuan was exiled to the south of the Yangtze River,far from the center of power,but his royal pedigree allowed him to enjoy a kind of life that was superior to civilian.King Qingxiang was a student of Qu Yuan and it was not his intention to exile him.Although the capital of Ying was destroyed,the State of Chu was still very powerful.Qu Yuan had no reason to commit suicide.Qu Yuan firmly believed that there was a beautiful pure land in the sky of the State of Chu.He wanted to ride the dragon and the phoenix to go to this pure land to find his ideal"beauty"and realize his ideal of"beautiful politics".Due to the worship of the dragon and phoenix,he chose to suicide at theMiluo River under the Phoenix Mountain.
