Objective To investigate disinfection monitoring in Yuexiu district in Guangzhou to find out the weak points in time so as to provide targeted remediation and prevention, and eventually improve the public hygiene of the medical facilities. Methods Regularly monitoring to medical institutions was conducted in reference with related standards and regulations by collecting samples on spot and sending them for detection. Results Totally,355 medical institutions were monitored during 2015 to 2020,with 5,789 samples collected and tested in total. The overall qualified rate was 95.03%.The difference in the qualified rate was statistically significant across the years(χ^(2)=29.600,P<0.05),fluctuating around 95%.The qualified rates of hand hygiene and ultraviolet light were lower. The overall qualified rate was significantly different between the medical institutions affiliated to the city and those affiliated to the district(χ^(2)=7.543,P<0.05),the former 1.5 percentages higher than the latter. Conclusion Hand hygiene is the weakest point found in the monitoring process, deserving more attention. Moreover, targeted remediation and supervision should be carried out, targeting the defects found from the monitoring over the medical institutions affiliated to city and district.Only if the three levels of medical institutions, medical staff and supervisors make joint efforts can the disinfection effect be bettered in an effective way.
