"The Bloomsbury Group"is a British elite group which deeply influenced the modernization of Western culture in the early 20 th century, while"The Crescent School"is a modern Chinese literary school which shared a similar cultural outlook and was called"The Chinese Bloomsbury".Though under different social and political atmosphere, the members from the two groups made frequent contacts and resonated greatly in their aesthetic tastes and values. The intimate association between the Crescent School female writer Ling Shuhua and the Bloomsbury poet Julian Bell sets as a typical case indicating the inter-cultural communication of the two groups. When Julian came to China,he brought his Bloomsbury aesthetics here and affected Ling Shuhua’s writing and translation, and Julian’s aunt Virginia Woolf promoted Ling Shuhua’s work in the Western world to a further step.Through the analysis of the co-translation between Ling Shuhua and Julian Bell, the study aims at revealing the intricate intercourse within the two groups.
