Museums are not only places for the display of exhibits, but also places with materials, materials and places as fulcrum, reconnecting the memory of individual life and historical narrative. The Imperial War Museum in London,on the one hand, restores vivid individual memories of the war through the display of objects, and interacts with the traditional collective narrative of nation-state history. On the other hand, the museum hopes to realize the dialogue between the past and the present through the memory site composed of many elements and groups within the site as a fulcrum.Taking the Imperial War Museum as an example, this paper reflects on how the war museum transcends the grand narrative of nation-state by constructing the site of memory through three dimensions of materiality, timeliness and space, and then reconsiders the nature of war through the memory of individual life.
