Reflections on Video Recording of the Life History of the Elderly

高龄老人是一系列社会变革的亲历者和见证人,记录他们的生活历史,就是记录我们民族的历史、国家的历史。根据具体采访事例,在记录过程中,不必过多地去讨论宏大的历史叙事,而要尽可能地落实到老人容易记起、感兴趣的具体事件中,可以比较细致地挖掘当时人们的生活状况,如衣食住行、日常生活等;也不必拘泥于某一特定时期的生活经历。同时,要注意采访技巧,毋须刻意追求图像的完美,以确保老人正常讲述为基本目标。

The elderly are both experiencers and eyewitnesses of a series of social transformations and changes.To record their life history is to record the history of our nation and the history of our country.As regards specific interview cases,in the process of recording,we need not discuss with them grand topics as in the form of historical narrative,but rather proceed with small details and specific events that can easily evoke their memory and interest.For example,instead of focusing primarily on life experiences of a particular period of time,we can inquire about the daily life and basic needs of their contemporaries in the past such as food,clothing,shelter and means of traveling.Besides,we should also attend to certain interview skills and avoid being too hypercritical about the quality of images during recording so as to ensure the normal narration of the elderly as the basic goal.
